A Season of Light, Faith, and Grace. A Christmas Message from Profiling Evil

As we enter this holiday season, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to the Profiling Evil community and offer my heartfelt wishes for peace, reflection, and connection.

I come to Christmas from a Christian faith tradition and for Christians, this season is a sacred time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ, His life, and His sacrifice for all humankind. That story brings me deep personal comfort and hope, especially in a world where we spend so much time examining darkness, harm, and human suffering through the work we do here.

But something else has shaped me deeply over the past decade that I want to share. For more than ten years, my wife and I have had the privilege of worshiping, serving, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with people of many faith traditions, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and others. What we’ve learned through those shared experiences is simple but powerful: goodness is not owned by any one tradition. Compassion, humility, mercy, accountability, forgiveness, and love show up everywhere when people are honestly trying to live decent lives and care for others.

Worshiping and respecting other faith walks has never weakened my personal faith. It has only strengthened it by reminding me that faith, when lived well, should draw us closer together, not push us apart. If there’s one message I hope we can all carry this season—especially as a true crime community, it’s that we don’t have to agree to be respectful, and we don’t have to be the same to care about one another.

In a space where judgment can come easily and outrage can feel justified, this season invites us to slow down, soften a little, and remember the humanity in each other. We can strive to listen more, to condemn less, and to leave room for grace… not just for the victims of crime, but for one another.

Whether Christmas is a sacred holy day for you, a cultural tradition, or simply a moment to pause at the end of a long year, I’m genuinely grateful you’re here. The Profiling Evil community works because people like you show up with curiosity, empathy, and a willingness to learn. This isn’t about criminal cases as much as it is about our human journey.

So from my family to yours, may this season bring peace where there’s been noise, light where there’s been darkness, and connection where there’s been distance.

Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa. Blessed Yule. And warm wishes to all who honor this season through prayer, reflection, service, or quiet acts of kindness.

If you’d like to catch my personal Christmas message in video form, reflecting on faith, unity, and the importance of lifting one another—especially in times when division feels easy, follow this link and enjoy the music at the end. There shouldn’t be any ads and there is no revenue generated from this, only goodwill – I hope! You can watch that Christmas message here:
